Mexico City

Mexico City is the capital city of Mexico and the biggest agglomeration in the world, next to Tokyo.  It takes place in the centre of the country and has about 1500km2. Mexico City is situated at an altitude of 2.240 m and is surrounded by numerous mountain ranges (sierras). From the southwest is it the Sierra de las Cruces, from south Ajusco and Chichinautzin, from east Nevada (with its volcanoes: Popocatepetl and Iztaccíhuatl), and in the north of Sierra de Sierra de Guadalupe.

There live more than 8,850 mln people who come from countries like Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, China and Korea.  That makes that the culture is very different. But there is a one big fest that connects the all residents. It’s the Carnival. It takes place a week before the Lent (usually in February or March). It’s the time of fabulously colorful parades in flamboyant costumes, with fireworks, dances, food and drink day and night. It begins with the ceremony of Quema del Mal Humor (burning the bad temper).

Mexico is also a city of colonial palaces, historical monuments, squares and peaceful green parks. Places which are worth visiting:

  • Museo Nacional de Antropologia, where are located unusual Mexican archaeological finds
  • the Basilica of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe, where’s a painting the patroness of Mexico
  • the Metropolitan Cathedral,
  • the Church of Jesus Christ from Nazareth,
  •  Cuicuilco pyramid,
  •  the Zocalo, which is the heart of the city.

Letter of complaint

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to complain about my new television Samsung UE46D5500. I bought it two days ago in your shop and I am really disappointed. When I turn it on I discover that in the top right corner is a big green spot, which making preclude to watch films.

When I went to your shop the shop assistant told me “find another employee”, when I go to the another employee he told me the same so I go back to the first one. When he saw me he start to shout at me that he hasn’t time for me and he throw me out of the shop. He was very rude so I hope he will be fired.

I would therefore be grateful if you could consider a full refund of  television or send me a new one.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,

Dominika Buhl
